Newspaper Redesign: La Conexión

During the fall of 2009, my newspaper design class was approached about a special project. La Conexión is a Hispanic language paper written and produced in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Its design was somewhat tacky and extremely chaotic. As design students, we were placed into groups and challenged to create a new style guide for the paper, design several concept pages and pitch our redesign to the paper’s editor-in-chief. After several weeks of hard work and late nights, my group was thrilled to learn that our concept had been chosen by the paper’s staff to be the foundation for their redesign. I really enjoyed working with the other designers in my group for a real, established paper and to be able to see our ideas put into action. Take a look at the complete concept paper.
